Brief History
Chadwick Web Processing (formerly Cobden Chadwick Ltd.) was established in 1907 by Mr Cobden Chadwick, who, after working for several years in his father’s paper bag factory, set up on his own as a paper bag machine maker.
During intervening years by combining our proven engineering expertise with an ability to identify & respond to developments in the markets we serve, the product range expanded to include sack tubing machines and both in-line & reel to reel Flexographic & Gravure printing machines for many purposes. Chadwick effectively set the standard in web processing technology, serving some 2000 customers in 50 countries worldwide. Significantly, in the late 1950’s Chadwick were ‘pioneers’ in the introduction of modern Common Impression cylinder Flexo-presses, and then again in 1980 with the introduction of Wide-Web Flexo which would be used in the corrugated pre-print and tissue industries running at speeds of up to 1000mpm. And yet again, in 1995 we developed the world’s first 10-colour C.I. Flexopress.
Following the acquisition from receivership in 1999, Chadwick disposed of intellectual property rights relating to their ‘Tissueflex’ & ‘Linerflex’ machines to P.C.M.C. of Green Bay, USA, and Plymouth, UK. This Strategic move enabled Chadwick to consolidate their product range and to concentrate more on core Markets in Flexible Packaging (paper, film and foil), Decorative Products (Wallcoverings, Giftwrap, Laminates), and Folded Cartons.
Chadwick Web Processing now design and manufacture one of the most comprehensive Mid-Web range of Web-Fed products available. Including 600 to 1700mm wide multi-colour Flexographic & Rotogravure printing Presses, and Coating & Laminating machinery, along with a wide range of Unwind, Rewinding and tension systems, as well as providing a complete support service (for Cobden Chadwick, Simon VK and nim-cor clients) through their After Sales, Parts and Service Centre.
Amongst Chadwick’s latest developments is a Flexo/Gravure module which can be supplied for multi-colour printing with in-line coating & laminating, together with tension systems and winders to suit a wide range of application.
Additionally, ancillaries are offered aimed at enhancing performance and profits for our clients and recently, it is in this area where Ultra-Clean (for roller & parts cleaning) is making a significant impact.
Chadwick is actively working in partnership with both end users and other OEM’s in Design & Build programmes. Where possible, these utilise modular designs to bring together ‘packages’ founded on an in-depth knowledge of markets gained over time.
In today’s competitive business environment, we are confident that our organisation will exceed customer’s expectations for equipment in terms of quality, valued pricing and superior service.
